Classic Gathering of Family and Friends

Classic Gathering of Family and Friends

This weekend is a classic gathering of family and friends. We all have our traditions. Some are shared, while others are just with family. Fireworks seem to be a shared tradition. Children cover their ears as the fireworks boom, with the look of awe on their faces.Blueberry and raspberry lambic sundaes with Graeter's vanilla ice cream. The classic American Flag cake, with all stars and stripes in fruit. Watermelon, hot dogs, burgers and even potato salad.A parade in the morning. Patriotic banners hung about town. Mini flags as centerpieces mixed with red, white and blue pansies. Hydrangeas in blue and white are beautiful too, on a red linen.Whatever your tradition may be, may you all have a Happy Fourth of July.

Classic Summer Evening

Classic Summer Evening

The rain clouds departed, the sun came out and on this night we celebrated a classic summer evening with an elegant wedding in our client’s backyard.Last time, I shared some of tips to remember when hosting an “at home” wedding. This week, I’d like to share the results, the fun and the beauty of the event!Having a wedding at home is truly one of life’s luxuries. You’re in familiar surroundings, which is always more comfortable and your family has plenty of room to spread out. The wedding day also tends to be more relaxing because no one has to rush anywhere. My crew spent the day working on the details. Each one adds a subtle touch and becomes the whole that everyone enjoys. This bride was classic. She wanted easy, outdoor elegance. We chose to invest...

Summer Parties

Summer Parties

With summer here, and in full swing, parties are on the rise. From Debutante parties to weddings and family BBQs, many different types of parties are happening all over the place. Colors, floral, and sometimes even glitter are among the decor at these parties. Bright colors are typical of the summer season, but this year, they seem quite prevalent. Colors can be brought out in floral, dresses, backdrops, drape, and even lighting. One can even bring color into the food, such as for the Fourth of July, with Blueberries, Strawberries, Whipped Cream, Lobster, Crab, and more. Colors can pop out wherever you would like! Colors can truly theme your event, whether it be one big theme of a particular color, such as green, or even pick a theme such as plaid, and play off of the colors from...

So Many Things…So Little Time!

It’s crunch time at Eventurous as we are completely in the thick of wedding and event season. I thought that this week you might like a sneak peek into our world and the four million and one things that we have going on at any one time. This week it’s about wrapping up the details for a 200 person “At-Home” wedding for a lovely family in Loveland. Outdoor, home weddings are spectacular and one of our absolute favorite events to plan because we need to use every single part of our creative and logistical brains to make them work flawlessly. Think about it for a minute, the average home is designed for daily living and even though entertaining may have been considered in the planning, the architects probably weren’t thinking on this scale. So here we come...

Planning an Event for an Event Planner

Planning an Event for an Event Planner

Let me start by saying that it’s not easy! Everyday I see and experience amazing things. I’m very lucky that my clients and my job let my imagination run wild. In this case, it’s a bit of a blessing and a curse. I’m the girl that always said if I got married I would like nothing better than to completely turn it over to my friends and be absolutely surprised by the outcome. That would be great and that plan is still in place if I ever tie the knot, but right now I have a bit of a crisis!Eventurous, Inc will be twenty years old on July 10, 2011. My goal is to have fun dinner with my team, family, vendors and a few clients. This is a personal thank you to them for their support, faith, loyalty and service. Without them, Eventurous would not be what it is today and...

Decision Making

Decision Making

With wedding season here and parties taking shape left and right, decision making is what I've found to be what makes the planning process take so long.Everyone has an idea of what they want their event to look like, whether it be a particular color, flower incorporated, or even involving an elephant. Even a Bride, who typically has imagined her wedding since she was young, has an idea of what she wants, or even knows exactly what she wants. It's placing these decisions into motion, often with the help of an Event Planner. The hard part takes place when there are so many options, and budgeting factors in, that the decision making can make the planning process drawn out. With Memorial Day weekend last weekend, events were abundant. A party was thrown at the home of Sarah Warrington, of...

Designing, Creating, and Producing One of A Kind Events

Designing, Creating, and Producing One of A Kind Events

Recently, Steve Wanamaker, Publisher of Venue Magazine asked me about myself and Event Planning. I wasn’t exactly sure where to begin. To be asked to talk about one’s self, and explain what one does, each and every day, is quite a feat. Event planning consists of more than just a party. It’s a production, if you will. And I love “Producing”.From start to finish, Event Planning comes quite naturally. Maybe I get floral from my Mother, and my sense of etiquette and social aspect form my Grandmother. I’ve trained and worked with some of the best in the country. From Cincinnati, to Las Vegas and San Francisco, I’ve seen grandeur others can only imagine. And I love being able to bring that back to Cincinnati. Working with vendors is a pleasure, and...

Spring Celebrations

Spring Celebrations

Awake from your winter hibernation; it’s time to celebrate! Whether there is a wedding, graduation, christening, or mitzvah in your future, the warm weather definitely inspires a wide array of celebration opportunities. Here are a few thoughts to keep in mind when planning events for the spring.• The nights are cool. This seems obvious, but once sun and warmth hit the daylight hours, we get so excited that it’s easy to forget the chill that immediately sets in when the stars make an appearance. Be sure to have outdoor heaters or an inside locale available for guest comfort.• Rain is one of the best and worst things about the season. While you may love the idea of storms and lightning shows, chances are that you would not find them so exciting while standing under a...
