A BEACH HAVEN

Sometimes you aren’t able to get away as often as you’d like.
For this California native now residing in often-snowy Chicago, we sought to bring the beach to her.

We chose a well-lit space on the 3rd floor of their town home. The canvas was one of soothing whites and bright blues – the most fun being a cobalt Swedish chest from Jayson Home & Garden. While shopping at Jayson, we stumbled across an antique wicker chair set that we fell in love with so had cushions made for in a cobalt and white Quadrille fabric.

We carried over the whimsical geometrics from Quadrille for pillows on the sofa and chairs, and even some large pillows for the floor. A Schumacher sky blue fabric with white leather stripes completed the medley of blues on the pillows.

Our client’s husband had quite the collection of books and artifacts from his African travels, thus we designated a wall to house the reading and travel collection. We found a Restoration Hardware bookcase made of driftwood to work with the naturally inspired materials in the room.

The final touch was of course, a bit of nature itself, through birds of paradise that were tucked into each of the corners to border each of the sun-kissed windows.

To get this look…

Rooms with large windows that get a lot of sunlight are an ideal spot for an indoor haven. Naturally inspired colors - such as blues, greens, and sands - and materials such as woods and sisals contribute to the soothing space.

Elegantly Yours~
