A Sea of Blues on the Water.....

From the Chineses porcelain of the Ming Dynasty to the more contemporary styles of today few color combinations have lasted the tests of time quite as well as blue and white.

Blue and white have endless variations: cerulean, indigo, aqua, cobalt, sapphire, slate, Prussian, cornflower and navy_ can tell a story together because practically all blues work together.

Part of blue and whites staying power is that it has the ability to coordinate with an array of different styles. From the above mentioned Chinese/Eastern styles, to French Country, and Classic Americana. Blue and white can be both extremely elegant as well as comfortably casual.

In addition blue and white make an excellent pallate to display other colors. Mixed with yellow the pallate "calls to mind blue skies and brilliant sunshine, and along with with the white complement each other in a breath-of-fresh-air way" -Carolyne Roehm "A Passion for Blue & White"

Blue and white makes vibrant pinks "POP" and also tones down some of the "sweetness" of softer pinks.

For us blue and white evokes feelings of serenity, calmness, and soothing. When conceptualizing one of the guest rooms at "Le Reve" we wanted to instill these feelings into the design. We wanted the room, which faces the lake, to have the fresh feeling of spring year around. The blue and white color scheme more than achieved the look and feeling we planned on and is one of our favorite projects.
