THIS EASTER HOLIDAY SEASON

Nothin' but blue skies makin' Me Happy.  Nothin' but blue skies do I see.  When we hear the words to this hallmark song it makes Us Feel Good about life doesn't it?  Growing up many folks spend Easter at one or another of relatives' homes.  Many will go to Sunrise service, a famous Easter breakfast followed by a big Easter Egg hunt and Easter baskets full of lot's of goodies.  Then off to lunch, with many of the women disappearing into the kitchen area and just a few hours later out pops the famous holiday meal followed by a tradition of everyone laying around on the floor, stuffed with Easter lunch and napping.  Or, maybe you go out for Easter brunch where an array of holiday dresses coming and going with everyone laughing and experiencing the full of the holiday season.  This may not quite be your Easter holiday experience, however, you do get the picture.  It most likely is in some form or fashion of this visual.  But not for everyone.

 

Many people tend to live life in a bubble.  Sometimes our perception of how everyone lives in our world can be a little distorted.  And how some of the people in our communites spend their holiday season may be a little distorted as well.  I am asking you to consider that not everyone will come close to sharing in the traditions of the all American Easter celebration this holiday season.  Keep in mind our world has and still is going through many dramatic changes.  Many people do not have homes. Many still are in search of a job or the next break to relieve some of the economic preasure.   Many families are still recovering and even struggling to see light at the ened of the tunnel.  Poverty and homelessness still run rapid in our communities and in whatever ways we can serve to help others, in the smallest of ways, will make a huge difference.

 

In whatever ways you celebrate Easter, and whatever meaning it has to you, keep in mind we are all a part of humanity.  We all are connected whether we are directly related or not.  It is a beautiful thing to have a wonderful family and to share in the traditions year after year and generation after generation.  And the Easter holiday season is a wonderful time to celebrate hope and love in our world.  All I ask is in your moments of pausing or in quiet, remember their are many of us who still suffer and our men who serve over seas without their families, and many people who have no one to turn to in time of need.  It is in our times of being open that we see opportunity to serve another and reach out to someone in pain and those who are discouraged and just may need a hand up.  In that thought and action it will add so much more to your holiday season and bring so much more richness to your life.  Enjoy the Easter holiday and until next time, "It is a Good Life".  It just depends on our perspective.
