09/27/12VIP Way to TravelWhether traveling for business or luxury, a trip can turn from excitement to anxiety to misery in moments. Upon arrival, while checking in, your wallet is instantly drained by unanticipated baggage fees. Irritated and disgruntled, you find yourself waiting through seemingly endless security lines and then racing through terminals to make your flight. Finally, upon arriving, breathless and perspiring, you discover your departure time has been delayed. Stress levels are now high, and a voice calls for boarding. You are boarded on the plane, squeezed like sardines in a can. A voice comes over the intercom to announce that there are unforeseen mechanical issues and to hold tight while they are being repaired. Your fate has been sealed, stuck in claustrophobic purgatory and destined... Posted at 01:45 PM | Permalink |
03/28/12Spring Break Anyone?Spring Break Anyone? At this time of year, I'm sure all of you already have your spring breaks planned and know where you're spending a week in the sun. This year, some of the top destinations for spring break still haven't changed; Cancun, Mexico, Panama City, Florida, Miami and South Beach, Florida, and the Bahamas and Jamaica are still on there. But why doesn't everyone try something new and go to somewhere out of this world!? I will be spending my spring break in the Cayman Islands, which has a gorgeous seven-mile beach and so much to do. To me, the beach is the easily the best part of any vacation spot. If you don't have a good beach, well you might as well not go. Another problem with a lot of spring break... 10/14/11Have Family, Will Travel. But How Many Bags?Like many of my customers, I have a family. At ages 13, 12, and 12 (yes, twins), our children participate in most of our vacations, and we feel fortunate that we can help them see more of the country and globe than just their native Ohio. Deciding whether to travel is easy. Deciding how many bags to carry is not! Some of my customers, like myself, grapple with the dilemma of how many bags to carry when traveling with a family. I've been asked: is it better to have each child be responsible for his or her own luggage, or pack all the children's things in one large bag that's managed by a parent? Well, there's no fool-proof answer. Variables such as the ages and number of children, the length of the trip, the distance to and location of the destination, the mode... 09/12/11ConveyedYou've planned and packed. You've made it through the long flight. You're ready to explore! or relax! or shop! Not so fast - first you must retrieve your luggage. So you stand in Baggage Claim with your fellow passengers, watching the bags go round and round on the conveyor. Your eyes are fixed on those bags, hoping you won't have to wait long. Black bag. Black bag. Tan bag. Black bag. Black bag. Hot pink bag! Black bag. Black bag... You watch with envy as others retrieve their bags before you. While you wait, you play a little game in your mind, matching bags on the conveyor with their owners. Ah, finally you spot your own bag! As you reach for it, you realize that your fellow travelers around you are watching you, too. You wonder: What does my... Posted at 03:01 PM | Permalink |

08/12/11Keystone Ski Resort in ColoradoWith their four children’s wide age range, the Lutz family prefers a vacation that provides activities for all of them to enjoy together, making the Keystone ski resort in Colorado stand out as their favorite family getaway. Along with the healthy, refreshing feel of mountain air, the breathtaking scenery, and a whole lot of exercise, the Keystone slopes provide the family of six with something they all have fun doing—skiing! A typical day at Keystone for the Lutz family includes rising early from their condo that resides at the base of the slopes and skiing through to lunch, at which time they regroup back at the condo to re-energize for their afternoon ski. It isn’t until dinnertime that the Lutz’s bring an end to their ski session, depart from the slopes for... Posted at 01:17 PM | Permalink |

07/08/11Barcelona, SpainBrittany Foster fell in love with the City of Barcelona, Spain during her time studying abroad. The culture of the city is opposite of that in the United States. Being “on-time” does not have the same meaning as it does in the States. As Americans we sometimes get caught up with being on the go and getting tasks accomplished quickly. The value of time is very relaxed for the reason being to really capture the day and not miss out on the little things in life. Time is the very reason why Brittany is passionate about the city. Los Caracoles is one of the best restaurants in Barcelona. The name of it actually means snails. It has a very cozy and friendly atmosphere. The food is impeccable but the restaurant may look deceiving to those on the street by thinking it is just... Posted at 02:48 PM | Permalink |

06/20/11CaboThe Kendall Family has embarked on several vacations, mostly to Europe, but decided to add a little spice in the agenda and explore Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The Kendall’s stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Resort & Spa. The family loved the resort because it was not overcrowded and had several pools that were accessible to anyone. The activity that everyone enjoyed the most was riding the ATY’s on the sand dunes. The family did however go deep sea fishing, hiking, and exploring the town of San Jose. The resort was beautiful and even had pelicans adding to the luxurious gardens. Cabo has something for everyone to enjoy; whether or not they like to relax, or have a vacation full of new experiences, it is not a place one would want to miss if given the opportunity... 05/27/11New Zealand: Jump into AdventureJohn A. Busam and his two daughters, Morgan and Megan, decided to take the plunge and travel across the world to New Zealand. When they arrived they explored the city of Christchurch and stumbled upon a magnificent chocolate restaurant, “She Chocolat.” The restaurant happens to also be a school where people can learn to be chocolate chefs. All-natural cocoa beans are flown in from the country of Fiji, and the restaurant is now becoming well-known all around the world. The International Antarctic Centre was a fun place to visit because they have the Blue Penguins. “Blue Penguins are the smallest penguins in the world and were a lot of fun to watch and play with”, said the Busam family. The center has a rescue and rehabilitation area for the penguins, and they... Posted at 02:34 PM | Permalink |

05/20/11Newport, Rhode IslandThe Ahern family likes to spend their summers East coast-bound, in the town of Newport, Rhode Island. “It is the perfect summer get away,” says Arthur Ahern. The weather is always warm and sunny with a breathtaking breeze. The Clark Cooke House is a favorite restaurant of our family’s. The workers know us there and the service is always excellent. Even if a family is not from the Newport area, the restaurant makes their new customers feel welcome with the upmost hospitality. Taking a tour of The Breakers is something a family shouldn’t miss even a short visit to the town. The homes are luxurious and take you into a world that is hard to imagine, once existed. The shopping in the town is very diverse that varies from small souvenir shops to Badgley Mischka.... Posted at 12:51 PM | Permalink |

05/09/11Touring IndiaAfter touring India for two weeks during the holiday season of 2010–2011, The O’Brien family realized they were in love with the eclectic country. Several cities the O’Briens visited were Mumbai, Jaipur, Udaipur, and New Delhi. The City of Mumbai, located in Maharashtra, buzzes with excitement and is reminiscent of New York City albeit in India and with Indian flare. The city is surrounded completely by water, which only adds to the charm. The Taj Mahal in Agra, India is a common attraction when vacationing to the country, but pictures cannot capture the true beauty of the palace. “Exploring India with my family can be described as nothing else but an adventure,” says one family member.Attractions to see include the National Gandhi Museum and the...
