Indian Hill Presents "Footloose"
Everyone has seen, or at least heard of, the musical sensation “Footloose”. Indian Hill put on a production of the musical in this year’s high school Pow Wow. Many talented students shined in the spotlight with their unique voices and awesome acting skills. Last night was the opening night and the show will also be on Friday night at 7:30, Saturday at 2:00 P.M. and at 7:30 P.M. Tickets sold out fast for both Friday and Saturday night and opening night was a big success!
Junior, Hugh Strike, played Ren, a city boy who moved from Chicago to a town called Bomont, which had very strict laws against almost everything he wanted to do. Dancing was made illegal, which made Ren none too happy. After an accident that involved alcohol and driving, 4 teenagers had went off of a bridge about 5 years ago and since then, Reverend Moore made almost everything fun for teenagers illegal.
Senior, Alexa Harris, played Ariel, the daughter of Reverend Moore, who was dating a bad boy, Chuck, played by senior, Rob Becker. The acting and emotions that were played out on stage were outstanding! Making the audience chuckle, emotional and want to get up and dance, the cast of pow wow exceeded expectations.
Alexa and Hugh made an adorable match! Hugh, as a junior, was absolutely fantastic and his voice surprised many. Alexa has been a part of pow wow for all 4 years and she has been outstanding in every single one, this one especially. There were many roles that entertained the audience, like Zach Whittington, a junior, who played Willard, a boy who couldn’t dance. Zach and Maggie Fritz, a senior who was his leading lady, Rusty, made the audience laugh in almost every scene.
The dancing was incredible as well. Each and every cast member was unbelievably energetic and not one of them showed an ounce of doubt in their performances. So many students and family members attend these performances because Indian Hill puts on such good shows every year. This year, our biggest archrival Madeira, is performing the same show next weekend. Students are showing their school spirit and coming out to support the braves in this year’s pow wow show, “Footlose”. If you have time, come to the show to see the amazing talents of these students!
